PRUNUS Medicated Skin Clinic Shampoo was developed by clinical studies and collaborative research on its efficacy and effectiveness at College of Veterinary Medicine of Seoul National University. Especially, the safety of highly concentrated chlorhexidine(4%)-medicated shampoo has been proved and guaranteed by the results of skin and eye irritation tests on dogs and rabbits at College of Veterinary School of Chungbuk National University.
As the main ingredient (40- 50%), anionic surfactants are cost-effective raw materials obtained from petroleum (mineral-type) and they vary from natural plant surfactants, amino acid derivative surfactants that are more expensive biogenic substances and other various kinds.
Especially, Chlorhexidine Gluconate, the main effective agent, is highly unstable, in which its efficacy and effectiveness of physical and chemical properties decrease rapidly according to the shampoo's composition, such as proteins, anion Tenside, high molecular substances, inorganic fillers and etc. Thus, the stabilization technology for chlorhexidine within the shampoo composition influences the product quality(efficacy and effectiveness).
Some veterinarians often prescribe chlorhexidine to be used with common shampoos in the market, however, chlorhexidine-inhibitors in those products cause the chlorhexidine precipitates into insoluble acid. This requires chlorhexidine 100-1,000 times more and the the effect of chlorhexidine decreases dramatically depending on the the shampoo composition.
